It has been brought to our attention that a phishing email is doing the rounds, prompting people to click on a link and update their login details for their bulk SMS service provider.

At this stage we are uncertain as to the extent of this scam, but it appears that the scammers are targeting a broad spectrum of people who might be using any of the bulk SMS providers based in South Africa. It is possible that one of the bulk SMS service providers' email list has been compromised, and that is how the scammers have obtained a list of people who use bulk SMS, but at this stage this cannot be confirmed. Judging by the landing page they are using, which contains the logos of nearly all SMS service providers, they could be relying on the fact that many people who use bulk SMS have more than one account, with more than one service provider.
If anyone has received this email and clicked through to the scammers page, and has filled in their information, we recommend that you change your passwords for any and all SMS service accounts you might have. It is also a good idea to change your passwords for all services on a regular basis and to ensure that you use strong passwords.
We can assure you that your data is safe with us provided you don't enter any information on a web page or web site that does not belong to us.

We recommend you only use web sites that have these security features installed.
For added security we also have a notification service that will notify you by SMS and Email if someone logs into or uses your WinSMS account. To enable this feature simply login to WinSMS at https://winsms.io then go to “My Profile” then “Notifications” where you can enable one or more security options.
