Cyber Monday falls on the first Monday after the United States celebrates Thanksgiving. Cyber Monday is similar to Black Friday but it was created for online (e-commerce) stores.
The term “Cyber Monday” was created by marketing companies to persuade people to shop online. Cyber Monday falls perfectly in line with the beginning of the Christmas shopping season making it a great time to run or purchase online specials.
Ellen Davis was the first person to coin the term in a 2005 press release for Shop.org titled “Cyber Monday Quickly Becoming One of the Biggest Online Shopping Days of the Year.”
Like Black Friday, Cyber Monday has become very popular all over the world and you can find some really great online specials. It is so popular that some people stay up all Sunday night to buy special deals early Monday morning.
